- Enhance Ethical Competence: Develop a thorough understanding of ethical principles and standards in mental health and social services practice, including confidentiality, informed consent, and boundary management, to ensure ethical conduct in all professional interactions and decision-making processes.
- Improve Assessment Skills: Enhance proficiency in conducting comprehensive assessments of clients’ biopsychosocial needs, utilizing evidence-based assessment tools and techniques to identify presenting issues, strengths, and risk factors accurately, thereby informing the development of individualized treatment plans and interventions.
- Strengthen Cultural Competence: Cultivate cultural humility and competence by actively engaging in ongoing self-reflection, education, and training to recognize and respect the diversity of clients’ backgrounds, experiences, and identities, and to effectively address cultural factors that influence help-seeking behaviors, treatment preferences, and outcomes.
- Promote Awareness and Advocacy: Increase awareness of key issues such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), HIV/AIDS, and domestic violence, and advocate for equitable access to services, resources, and support for individuals with disabilities, those affected by HIV/AIDS, and survivors of domestic violence, fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for all clients.
