Recovery Support CRPS
This course meets the 6 hour requirement for the Recovery Support Domain.

- Understand the foundational principles that guide recovery processes, including hope, personal responsibility, education, support, and self-advocacy.
- Explore the stages of recovery and the dynamic nature of personal change, highlighting the importance of resilience and self-determination.
- Define and discuss the concept of recovery capital, including personal, social, and community resources that support recovery.
- Learn to assist individuals in setting realistic and achievable recovery goals, and developing strategic plans that facilitate personal growth and wellness.
- Identify common triggers for mental health symptoms and substance abuse, and develop strategies to manage and mitigate these triggers effectively.
- Gain knowledge about common medications used in treatment, understand potential side effects, and learn management techniques to support individuals in adhering to their medication regimen.
- Incorporate trauma-informed principles into practice, recognizing the prevalence of trauma in individuals with substance use and mental health conditions, and adapting services to be sensitive to trauma-related issues.
- Emphasize the importance of person-centered care in recovery, focusing on respecting individual needs, values, and preferences in the planning and delivery of services.
- Develop skills to effectively link individuals to necessary resources and make appropriate referrals that support their recovery journey.
- Explore effective collaboration techniques among care providers, stakeholders, and community resources to enhance service delivery and recovery outcomes.
- Examine the role and efficacy of self-help groups and other peer-based support services in the recovery process.
- Understand the value of natural support systems, such as family, friends, and community members, in strengthening and sustaining recovery efforts.
