Understanding Addiction Treatment Knowledge-Florida Certification Board CAP

This course provides an advanced examination of substance use disorders grounded in contemporary neuroscience, etiological frameworks, and clinical research. Content addresses the signs, symptoms, and progression of addiction; co-occurring psychiatric and medical conditions; and the pharmacological foundations relevant to treatment. Participants will evaluate major treatment models, core clinical components, and evidence-based programs across the full continuum of care, including residential and outpatient settings. Emphasis is placed on recovery-oriented systems of care, family involvement in treatment, and the integration of mutual aid and community-based recovery supports, with consideration of addiction’s intersection with health, criminal justice, and broader social systems.

The Florida Certification Board approves this course and meets the 80-hour requirement for the Understanding Addiction Treatment Knowledge Domain for the initial application for CAP credentials.
