Water Safety

Water-based activities are widely enjoyed and have a positive impact on our lives, whether it be spending time at the beach, lake, or river, visiting public pools or water parks, or enjoying residential pools and spas. However, it’s important to acknowledge that water can also pose potential risks and hazards.

This course will explore the necessary steps to attempt to prevent water emergencies, water safety, and how to respond if something does go wrong.

This course will award 1 continuing education hour.

Identify hazards around pools, lakes, streams, and oceans.
Learn ways to ensure safety in and around water.
Understand the prevalence of drowning.
Explain how to respond to an emergency.

Leesa M. Robertson, M.Ed., CAP, LMHC

Ms. Robertson, M.Ed., CAP, LMHC, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia. She is credentialed in alcohol and other drug counseling.

Beginning her career in the hospital setting, working in admissions, on the 24-hour unit, inpatient and IOP for both adults and adolescents, she went on to supervise a group of clinicians that went into medical-surgical hospitals to assess and place patients. She went into the outpatient setting, working with adults and families. Throughout her career, Ms. Robertson has focused on training and education through presenting live and authored coursework.
