- Educate on the Impact of Stigma and Social Injustice: Train participants to understand the profound effects of stigma and social injustice on individuals struggling with substance abuse. Objective includes identifying how stigma can manifest based on race, culture, sexual orientation, class, and disability, and teaching strategies to combat these stigmas in various community and healthcare settings.
- Develop Effective Advocacy Strategies: Equip participants with practical advocacy strategies to protect the rights of substance abuse clients. This includes training on how to engage with policymakers, utilize social media for awareness campaigns, and collaborate with legal experts to ensure clients’ rights are respected and upheld.
- Enhance Negotiation and Influencing Skills: Teach participants how to effectively negotiate and influence positive changes within institutions and among stakeholders to better support substance abuse clients. Objective focuses on building skills in persuasive communication, strategic thinking, and consensus-building among diverse groups.
- Foster Empowerment and Self-Advocacy in Clients: Instruct participants on methods to empower clients and foster self-advocacy. This includes creating educational programs that help clients understand their rights, the importance of self-determination, and how to articulate their needs and preferences in their treatment plans, promoting a more personalized and effective recovery process.
