Street drugs are dangerous and plentiful. There is no way to know how strong they are or what else might be in them, but their use remains popular despite the risks.

Given the recent proliferation of new street drugs, it is imperative to remain vigilant and informed about the hazards of substance abuse.

This course will explore Krokodil, Flakka, Bath Salts, Xylazine, Slavia, Spice and others.

This course will award 1 continuing education hour.

Course Objectives

  1. Understand the dangers associated with street drugs, including the unpredictable potency and potential contaminants present in these substances.
  2. Identify the common street drugs prevalent in society today, including Krokodil, Flakka, Bath Salts, Xylazine, Slavia, Spice, and others, along with their respective effects on the body and mind.
  3. Analyze the reasons behind the popularity of street drugs despite the known risks and consequences, exploring societal, cultural, and individual factors contributing to their use.
  4. Develop strategies for harm reduction and risk mitigation when encountering or navigating situations involving street drugs, emphasizing the importance of staying informed and vigilant about substance abuse hazards.

Leesa M. Robertson, M.Ed., CAP, LMHC

Ms. Robertson, M.Ed., CAP, LMHC, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia. She is credentialed in alcohol and other drug counseling.

Beginning her career in the hospital setting, working in admissions, on the 24-hour unit, inpatient and IOP for both adults and adolescents, she went on to supervise a group of clinicians that went into medical-surgical hospitals to assess and place patients. She went into the outpatient setting, working with adults and families. Throughout her career, Ms. Robertson has focused on training and education through presenting live and authored coursework.

  • System Requirements: This course is offered online. Internet connection required.
  • Course Completion Information: To earn continuing education credit, professionals must register and pay the fee for the course.  They must read the content and demonstrate understanding by earning a minimum score of 70 percent on testing materials.  The certificate of completion will be able to be downloaded after the above is completed.
