Practical Living Skills CRSS
This course on living skills for recovery is designed to equip individuals recovering from substance use disorders with the essential skills needed for successful day-to-day living and long-term sobriety.
This course is approved by the Florida Certification Board for those seeking a Certified Recovery Support Specialist credential. It meets the 10-hour requirement for the Maintaining the Practical Living Skills Domain.
This course will award 10 continuing education hours.

Develop Practical Daily Living Skills: Equip participants with essential skills necessary for daily living, including financial management to handle personal finances responsibly, nutritional guidance to maintain physical health, and time management skills to effectively organize daily activities. These skills aim to foster independence and stability, which are crucial for sustained recovery.
Enhance Interpersonal Communication and Relationship Management: Teach participants how to communicate effectively and manage relationships positively. This includes training in conflict resolution, empathy, active listening, and how to establish and maintain healthy boundaries. The goal is to improve participants’ interactions with family, friends, and colleagues, supporting a healthier social environment conducive to recovery.
Build Emotional Resilience and Stress Management Techniques: Provide participants with strategies to manage stress and emotional challenges that may arise during recovery. This will include techniques such as mindfulness, relaxation exercises, and cognitive-behavioral approaches to managing negative thoughts and emotions. Enhancing emotional resilience is key to preventing relapse and supporting long-term recovery.
