Abuse Reporting in Florida

This course provides a comprehensive review of abuse recognition, mandatory reporting duties, and the statutory requirements governing reporting practices in Florida. Participants will examine indicators and forms of abuse, professional and legal obligations of mandated reporters, penalties associated with failure to report, and the procedural steps required for timely submission of reports.

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course the user will be able to:

  1. Identify the signs and symptoms of abuse of children and/or the elderly.
  2. Identify who is mandated to report suspected abuse.
  3. Identify how to make contact the Department of Children and Families.
  4. Identify what information is needed to make a report.
  5. Discuss the Florida legislation regarding reporting abuse.
