This course provides healthcare professionals in Tennessee with essential knowledge of HIV/AIDS, including transmission, prevention, treatment, legal protections, and post-exposure protocols. Understanding HIV/AIDS is critical for reducing stigma, improving patient outcomes, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. By equipping healthcare providers with up-to-date information, this course enhances the ability to offer compassionate, effective, and evidence-based care for individuals affected by HIV/AIDS.

This course will award 1 continuing education hour.

Course Objectives

  1. Understand the modes of HIV transmission and effective prevention strategies.
  2. Identify the importance of early HIV diagnosis and available testing methods.
  3. Explain the legal protections and confidentiality requirements for individuals with HIV/AIDS.
  4. Recognize the significance of post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) and occupational safety protocols.
  5. Apply best practices in working with HIV-positive clients, including medical, psychological, and social considerations.
