Pain is an individualized concept that requires an equally individualized solution.
This course will explore the physiology of pain, the difference between types of pain, and how to manage it with and without opioids.
This course will award 2 continuing education hours.

- Define key terms related to pain.
- Describe the physiological processes involved in the sensation of pain.
- Explain the role of neurotransmitters in pain transmission.
- Differentiate between acute and chronic pain.
- Define neuropathic pain and its causes.
- Discuss the challenges associated with diagnosing and treating neuropathic pain.
- Describe methods for assessing pain, including subjective and objective measures.
- Understand the importance of a comprehensive pain assessment.
- Identify physical, psychological, and environmental factors that can influence the experience of pain.
- Discuss the concept of pain perception and its variability among individuals.
- Describe the principles of multimodal pain management.
- Discuss the role of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions in pain management.
