This course will explore the requirements for reporting child and elder abuse in Ohio. We will look at which professionals are required to report.  We will explore the timeline for reporting and the procedures that must take place.

  1. Identify the signs and symptoms of abuse of children and/or the elderly.
  2. Identify who is mandated to report suspected abuse.
  3. Identify how to make contact the Department of Children and Families.
  4. Identify what information is needed to make a report.
  5. Discuss the Florida legislation regarding reporting abuse.

Ms. Robertson, M.Ed., CAP, LMHC, is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia. She is credentialed in alcohol and other drug counseling.

Beginning her career in the hospital setting, working in admissions, on the 24-hour unit, inpatient and IOP for both adults and adolescents, she went on to supervise a group of clinicians that went into medical-surgical hospitals to assess and place patients. She went into the outpatient setting, working with adults and families. Throughout her career, Ms. Robertson has focused on training and education through presenting live and authored coursework.
