Anger Management (2-Hours)
Anger is a powerful and natural emotion experienced by everyone. Anger may develop in response to stress, frustration, fear, rejection, loss, perceived injustice, or the belief that something important has been threatened. Although anger is not inherently harmful, problems may occur when it becomes frequent, intense, difficult to control, or connected to aggression, intimidation, damaged relationships, or other harmful consequences.
As clinicians, our goal is not to teach clients to avoid anger. Our goal is to help them understand the anger response and develop safer, healthier, and more effective ways to respond.
In this two-hour course, we will explore the emotional, physiological, cognitive, and behavioral components of anger. Participants will examine common triggers, warning signs, contributing factors, and the positive and negative functions of anger. The course will also review clinical assessment, safety considerations, theoretical approaches, treatment planning, cognitive restructuring, relaxation skills, communication strategies, problem solving, and relapse prevention.
Participants will learn how to help clients recognize anger earlier, reduce emotional and physical arousal, challenge thoughts that increase anger, communicate more effectively, and select responses that support safety, accountability, and long-term well-being.
