The North Carolina Board Requirements:
The North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors requires Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs) to complete:
40 Total CEU Hours + Core Requirements:
• Every renewal: 3 hours in Ethics
• Supervisors: An additional 10 hours in Counseling Supervision (total of 50 hours)
The North Carolina Social Work Certification & Licensure Board requires Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs) to complete:
40 Total CEU Hours + Core Requirements:
• Every renewal: 4 hours in Ethics
• Note: A maximum of 20 hours may be completed online. The remaining 20 must be completed via in-person methods.
The North Carolina Marriage and Family Therapy Licensure Board requires Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs) to complete:
20 Total CEU Hours (Annually by June 30th) + Core Requirements:
• Every renewal: 3 hours in Ethics
• Content Requirement: Courses must clearly relate to Marriage and Family Therapy
• Note: A maximum of 20 hours may be completed online. Additional hours must be completed outside of this access.
Deadline: CEUs must be completed by the license issue date (LPC, LCSW) or by June 30th annually (LMFT) depending on license type.
